Music Video - Finishing touches and feedback

Image
Hey, its me Blake again back with another blog! In this blog I'll be explaining what I did for the finalizations of editing and feedback I received before submitting my project. To start off with, I'd like to thank my partner on this project, Gabriel, as he did help with the direction and ideas that were implemented throughout the video. There were many things I noticed after giving the video about 5 re-watches. Not all being good, for instance there were some black frames, off center clips, and even quality inconsistencies. I'm going to be going though how I fixed all of those as well. For the black frames I had noticed, they weren't a very big issue. I just had to select the remainder past where the frame was, and scooch everything past that forward to make it seamless. I'm thankful I decided to not go hands-free and just wing it without re-watching a couple times, and am glad I caught on to this fine detail. Another detail I picked up on was the centering on som

Music Video - initially editing

Hey, its me Blake again and in this blog I'm going to walk you through my editing process for my music video. Since I already have the clips and the music, all I have to do now is compile everything together in my editing software. Since we wanted an upbeat and all around happy feeling to be presented, we chose the song "All Star", which is perfect for what I was looking for. Gabriel was the main subject of the video, and we wanted him to be able to show his appreciation for basketball by doing something he enjoys. The footage that I chose were from many, so not all of them made the cut. I decided to watch all the clips and select the ones I thought were well planned out to use. Since I already have knowledge on editing, I used a more advanced software called "Adobe After Effects" throughout this project. I've implemented many techniques, such as jump cuts being timed on the songs beats. I believe this aspect continues the upbeat and aliveness of the project

Music Video Storyboard

SCENE 1: Gabriel wakes up to the start of the song "All Star" playing on his alarm clock, the sunlight leaks through the blinds of the window. SCENE 2: Gabriel gets up, gets ready and puts on his backpack with a Basketball poster on his room wall. SCENE 3: After he's ready, he opens his front door and sees the bright sun and shining trees along the pavement of the roads. SCENE 4: He then walks down the street, with his backpack on and basketball underneath his arm, still listening to the song on his headphones. SCENE 5: Gabriel makes it to the court, and is still playing the music. He then starts walking out to the court while dribbling the ball. SCENE 6: He takes his first shot on the court, each basket he makes resonating the joy he's having while listening to the song and playing.

CCR Blog

Blake Dashnaw  - CCR 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? "In my research blog, I intentionally decided to stray a little from the norms of the genre. While I did incorporate some established elements, my goal was to bring in aspects that would add a fresh dimension to the content. The content wasn't strictly following the patterns; instead, I played around with narrative structures and explored different angles to offer a distinctive and engaging perspective. This intentional choice aimed at creating content that feels familiar yet provides an engaging and thought-provoking outlook for the audience. Regarding representation, the video primarily depicts an enjoyable weekend activity without explicitly focusing on any specific social groups or issues. It's about celebrating the joy of playing basketball and finding pleasure in that pastime. The intention wasn't to delve into societal problems or represe

I'm glad that I was able to complete this project, even though it wasn't how I initially thought it was going to go, it worked out perfectly. Big thank you to my partner Gabriel, as he was a major attribute towards the entirety of the project, enjoy watching!

Production Blog: re-filming and production

Hey everyone, its me Blake again with another blog for my music video project. Since my last blog I have redone the filming for my video with my friend Gabriel, and switched up the project completely. I helped out with the props this time, while Gabe was the one who was in the shots the entire time and on camera. I did most of the back ended stuff; soon to be editing, props, direction, while Gabe was the actor and director as well. Since I learned a lot from my initial filming, this time it was much easier and smoother, as I already had a preconceived idea of what was needed to be done. We did make many changes and tweaks to my original idea, as we instead went to a basketball court and filmed our way to it and some shots. I also decided to switch up the sound track to the song All Star, as it fits the energy and I believe will be easier to edit to. I had checked out our filming location before initially filming to see for any issues or prominent things I'd need to avoid. I also d
