Production Blog: re-filming and production
Hey everyone, its me Blake again with another blog for my music video project. Since my last blog I have redone the filming for my video with my friend Gabriel, and switched up the project completely. I helped out with the props this time, while Gabe was the one who was in the shots the entire time and on camera. I did most of the back ended stuff; soon to be editing, props, direction, while Gabe was the actor and director as well. Since I learned a lot from my initial filming, this time it was much easier and smoother, as I already had a preconceived idea of what was needed to be done. We did make many changes and tweaks to my original idea, as we instead went to a basketball court and filmed our way to it and some shots. I also decided to switch up the sound track to the song All Star, as it fits the energy and I believe will be easier to edit to. I had checked out our filming location before initially filming to see for any issues or prominent things I'd need to avoid. I also decided to implement the use of a tripod for filming, as in many creative ideas I had we needed stable shots and a tripod does the job completely. Since the storyboard, a lot has changed with the idea. The main concept is still there of someone working out and waking up, however it is far different than going to the gym. Gabriel and I had to make sure we had the right ideas and movements we wanted to be inside out music video, so we planned out where he'd walk and shoot from to match our desired outcome. The outfit we decided to use for this video was a normal everyday outside wear fit, as it brings out the normality I wanted to be portrayed in this project. I also decided that in the editing phase I will have to transfer the videos from my phone to my computer, then export them from After Effects. Our timeline for this project wasn't as smooth as I wanted it to be, however ultimately its on track to becoming what we want to see. For the song choice, All Star, I believe having a more vibrant tone towards the film and a more outdoors image would be far more appropriate for the video. So in this case, I decided to make sure there were instances of trees and nature throughout the filming. While the final outcome may look different than I anticipate, I'm very happy its all coming together as is. Gabriel has also been an amazing duo for this project, as he's helped majorly with the direction and ideas for incorporating what we wanted in the film. I'm excited to see what I come across during the editing phase, and will make sure to keep you guys updated!
