Production Blog: behind the scenes
Hi its me Blake again, and in this blog I will be explaining the setting up process and other things I want to acknowledge before I start filming and producing my music video project. For this project, I have many creative ideas in mind and definitely want to be able to produce them. That's partially why I chose the song Stronger, by Kanye West. This song completely encompasses the upbeat and energetic feeling I was going for. I chose this genre and style of music because I feel its best to match with the gym setting and environment I will be trying to create. The song has many prominent beats, and the rhythm being steady and noticeable helps with my creative ideas as well. I have many concepts I'd love to integrate into this project. For instance, on the punch beats of the song I want multiple jump cuts in sections to match the pace and give a faster feeling to the music video itself. Most of these ideas i want to incorporate into my music video will however only be able to become executed in the editing scene. Knowing what I want to do for my post-processing is essential to the outcome of my project, as it allows me to know what I should film and prepare for beforehand. Another factor there is to mention is how I chose to do this project alone. While there are many ideas I have in mind that require a steady motion of filming or multiple persons to create, there is still very much I have in mind to create my music video. The jump cuts will be mostly consistent throughout the entirety of the video as I want the viewer to understand the time passing element represented in each cut. This subtle jump cut idea I have in mind I believe will create a great environment for the entire music video itself. It provides a more vibrant approach to the project, and gives the sense of speed throughout the entirety of the video. I also have ideas to do sketch animations in parts of my music video. In the scene where I want to be drinking an energy drink or water bottle, I want to animate a line or drawing of the water giving me energy. I can do this in multiple ways, not only by simply animating it inside of my editing software, but as well as masking myself from the frame and creating an outline effect that stands out from the rest of the scene. I'm sure that I will implement many more ideas into my project than I've noted here, and I cant wait to see where I end up in my next blog. Stay tuned, I hope you enjoy this process with me!
