Intro Blog



 My name is Blake Dashnaw, I'm a high school student and I'm now a sophomore, at 15 and I love video editing. I've been working with editing software's like Premiere Pro and After Effects for over 4 years now, and have been commissioned for multiple projects. I primarily edit clips from video games however I do want to become more familiar working with real films. I love the creative aspect of editing, and want to go into a profession where I'm able to use my prior knowledge. I chose this class because i believe it can entirely heighten my understanding on filmmaking as a whole, and allow me to utilize and improve my own skills. I see editing as a gateway that can expand my career in multiple directions that i may want to do in the future. I also attached my most recent edit i made on a video game for a commission.

    I was born in Florida, and now live with my father and dog named Dash. We first got my dog 3 years ago, and I've been taking care of him his entire life. I love amusement parks, every couple months me and my dad go to Busch Gardens for a couple days and always have fun. I've been there around 10 times now and sometimes go with my friends. I spend a lot of my free-time usually on my computer doing homework, talking to friends, editing, or playing video games. I learned how to build computers when I was 8, from my dad. I also enjoy going to the gym, and there being one inside my apartment makes it really convenient. Like every high school student i love sleeping, and of course hate getting up in the morning. Every Christmas I go to New York to see most of our family. Since my birthday is the day after Christmas, we celebrate both while were there. I also have one little brother that's 6 now. although I don't live with him, I love talking and doing things with him. Its amazing how much someone can develop and learn in such a short time, and whenever he shows me something he's learned or done it makes me happy as well. I also love nature, everything from the cold winter snow to the orange and stripped leaves in the fall. The inexplicable beauty nature haves is something I admire. This is most of what to know about me, and what to know about what I enjoy. I'm excited to see what I learn during this class, and even more so to see how far I can improve.

 As the editing guru of our group, it was up to me to piece together all the footage we captured into a cinematic masterpiece. Considering my experience as the editor for our previous project, everyone agreed that I was the right person for the job. Plus, I've picked up a bunch of new editing tricks along the way, so I was pumped to put them to good use. My Introduction, Again!

My name is Blake Dashnaw, and I live in an apartment with my father and dog. My father initially introduced me to technology pretty early; when I was eight I got my first I pad. Soon enough the time came to where my father taught me how to build computers and one of my own, and that allowed me to perceive the depths of the video filming and editing world. I'm very grateful for the opportunities I was given at an early age, as they allowed me to learn and understand what I know today. I play video games often with friends and also love watching movies. I also have a dog, named Dash. He's very smart and usually behaves really well. I've taken care of him since the age of 11, and have been his primary caretaker ever since. He is also an Australian Shepherd, which means he always needs a lot of exercise. Production Blog: Compiling Our Scenes

Today marked the climax of our editing odyssey! Before putting the finishing touches on our project, we decided to capture some extra scenes just as a safety net. It was a thrilling opportunity to venture beyond our usual filming spots and add some fresh elements to our story. Opting for my mom's spacious van for the car scenes turned out to be a brilliant move. Its generous space accommodated all our equipment and crew with ease. Filming inside the van was an absolute riot! We couldn't resist goofing around and having a blast while getting those last shots. After wrapping up our filming session, we treated ourselves to a leisurely lunch break to refuel before diving back into our editing tasks. The afternoon flew by as we polished off the remaining shots in just an hour. With some daylight left, we indulged in some relaxing fishing, taking advantage of the serene waters as the perfect backdrop for additional footage.
