My Commercial Reflection

In this project, there were many forms of technology I used and learned how to use. I learned how to initially operate my computer and install the editing software I used to edit, Adobe After Effects. I have used this software for many years, however becoming familiar with editing things in real life is what i was unfamiliar with. It took me a couple of days to learn techniques and styles I could have implemented in my commercial. Learning these effects and techniques was crucial to my project as it was the foundation for any ideas I had and was the determining factor of whether it came out good or not. I also learned how to share videos directly from a phone to a computer, which took me having to learn how to use different apps and video players to allow me to convert my phones pictures to my computer. The technology I learned to use in this project will completely help me in further projects, as they are bases for me to build off of in future situations. I also learned how to use blogger, and how to safely import my commercial embedded into my blog. Overall, there wasn't as much to learn from this project comparably to other students, as i do have vast knowledge on this topic. However, the things i did learn are going to benefit me and greatly impact my performance on other situations where id have to use these types of skills. This project has definitely allowed me to learn a great amount, and I enjoyed having to learn these new and exciting skills in the process of this class.

During the process of compiling my project together, I learned many things. There is so much to understand about the editing, filming, sound design, and execution. The ideas I had for this project were set from the start, and learning how to use and implement them in this project was pivotal towards my desired outcome. For the editing, I had to learn and search up many things I may not have known if it weren't for this project. The exporting and importing process is one that takes a lot of knowledge; I had to export my project multiple times to get the desired rend
er and tweak many things along the way. For the filming, I had to learn how to find the dates and times in old footage. For the sound design, I had to learn to edit audio and use the timeline to line up and fit things onto the flow of the song. For the execution, I had to see how my idea for this project had came out, and understand how to fit everything together. This was a very complex process of learning and conducting this project. 

I believe there are many things I can do to further advance my process in creating projects like the ones we do for this class. Overall I definitely need to give myself more time to do them, as I had many more ideas I wanted to execute however due to the time limitations I set on myself, couldn't. If I had this time, I believe my project could have had better pictures and videos, and definitely better editing. I liked the style I was going for, and the intro and outro of the project however I believe that if I had maybe even 2 more hours to edit my commercial it would have came out even better. So I believe, if I want my future projects to have a better outcome I should schedule myself accordingly and allow myself room to breathe in the time aspect of creating projects. I also believe that my color grading could have been better for the photos, as I did not do much adjusting for the individual photos and used the same adjustments for each photo and video. If I had done this, I think my project would have looked nicer and fit the warm feeling I wanted my work to produce. These are the things I presume would make my projects better in the future.
